American Cancer Society Announces Dr. Pepper Snapple Group CEO as 2011 Cattle Baron’s Ball Honorary Chairman

The American Cancer Society is pleased to announce that Larry D. Young, president and CEO of Dr. Pepper Snapple Group, has agreed to serve as the American Cancer Society Cattle Baron’s Ball Honorary Chairman for 2011. As honorary chair, Young will host one of Springfield’s premier charity events on August 20, 2011 at the William H. Darr Agricultural Center.

Young was born and raised in Springfield and is a graduate of Hillcrest High School. He currently resides in Dallas, but has a home in Millwood with his wife, Colette. The two return home to Springfield often as Young’s mother, brother, three daughters and six grandchildren all still reside in the Springfield area.

“My wife, Vickie, and I are thrilled that Larry D. Young has joined our Cattle Baron’s Ball committee of more than 130 local volunteers in the fight to eliminate cancer as a major health concern,” said Larry Hayward, executive vice president of Price Cutter and Cattle Baron’s Ball event co-chairman.

Since its inception in 2009, the Southwest Missouri Cattle Baron’s Ball has raised more than $1 million dollars to fight cancer. With the money raised at the Ball, the Society can help local people get well, help people stay well, help find a cure and help people fight back. With the numerous local free programs and services the Society offers, southwest Missouri’s support helps enable the Society to fulfill their mission of creating more birthdays and less
cancer.
