Wine & jazz a hip way to fight back against cancer: Uncorked for Hope Saturday, August 18

Enjoy delicious wine and exciting jazz at the American Cancer Society’s Uncorked for Hope

Sip some wine and make a toast to end cancer at the American Cancer Society’s Uncorked for Hope wine party. This premier event to raise awareness and funds in the fight against cancer will be held on Saturday, August 18 from 7-10 p.m. at Randall Gallery at 999 North 13th Street in downtown St. Louis.

Guests can swing by to enjoy delicious wine, great food, live jazz and a silent auction, while contributing to the Society’s mission to save lives from cancer. Music by the Chip Katz Trio will provide a lively atmosphere, while wines including the James Cole Estate Winery in Napa, CA, David Bruce Winery in Los Gatos, CA, and St. Clement from Napa Valley, CA make the tastings a treat. General admission tickets are $75, with a VIP ticket available for $125.

The event – which will also feature a carnival-style ring toss around wine bottles, gaming tables, and tribute candles to memorialize friends and family who died from cancer – will raise funds to help the American Cancer Society save lives by helping people stay well, get well, fight back and by finding cures. Uncorked for Hope guests will be helping to fund local Society programs that provide transportation and housing assistance, emotional support, education and more.

“The tribute candles will provide an opportunity to memorialize my maternal grandmother who died in 1968 after a 15 year battle with cancer,” said Ken Bentlage, volunteer chair for Uncorked for Hope. “While we join together for a night of celebrations for all we have and will do to fund the fight against cancer, these candles give all of us a chance to reflect and honor those we love.”

St. Louis Magazine’s Food Wine Design event gives one night to American Cancer Society

St. Louis Magazine is proud to announce the return of Food Wine Design, a weeklong dinner series that focuses on the city’s culinary and design talent. The chosen charity for the Thursday, May 17 dinner is the American Cancer Society.

Food Wine Design was introduced in June 2011 and the nearly sold-out dinner series raised more than $21,000 for local charities. This unforgettable dining experience offers food lovers a truly unique and memorable menu created by the city’s most celebrated chefs. Each evening’s theme features flavorful foods and wines, stunning tabletop designs, and an exclusive four-course menu. Each dinner highlights two esteemed chefs from St. Louis’ best local restaurants, three tabletop designers, wine and beer pairings, a creative mixologist, a talented entertainer, and a charity partner that will receive a portion of the proceeds.

Reservations are $85 per person or $800 per table of 10. Five-night passes for two are also available for a special price of $750.
